What We Believe at Providence Baptist Church
Here at Providence Baptist Church in Shady Dale, We base our ministries on sound biblical beliefs. The following is a summary of those beliefs we hold so dear to our hearts.
We believe there is only one GOD. A God that has manifested Himself as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. Before there was an earth there was the Word and the Word was God and the Word is God. (John 1) God created all things, the Earth, Heaven and Hell, and that He is all knowing, all powerful and almighty. (Genesis 1)
We believe God created Man (all human beings) for the sole purpose of worshipping and serving Him. He is a loving and forgiving God (Galatians 5) and He loves us so much that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ to die for us and if we, through faith, believe on Him, He will give us everlasting life. (John 3)
We believe Jesus was born of a virgin birth, conceived of the Holy Spirit and lived as a perfect being. He was born to be offered as the true gift of salvation for all who believe. (Matthew 1) We know that those who believe and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior become new creatures in Christ, repenting of their sins and are forever changed. We believe Jesus Christ is Savior and God the Father gave Him power over all things. We believe when Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross for our sins, that He arose again victorious over death, hell and the grave; that He ascended to Heaven alive, and has gone to prepare an eternal place for us in Heaven and the only way to Heaven is through Him. (John 14) We believe Jesus will return for all believers and there will be a great rapture and resurrection so that Christ may reign 1000 years before the final days of this world. We believe this earth is a place of suffering because of manâs original sin (Genesis 3) and that no man knows the time of Jesusâ return. (Matthew 24:36 and 25:13)
We believe the Bible is the inspired Holy Word of God and is the absolute truth, (2 Samuel 23) and has been given to us for a rule and guide of our faith and practice, and that in it we can find answersto all our trials and troubles. We believe the Ten Commandments are Godâs Law and are still relevant today. (Deuteronomy 8) We believe that Jesus Christâs commandment to love our neighbor as we love ourselves should be the basis for everything we do, everyday. We believe that when we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, He sends God the Holy Spirit to dwell within us and to guide and comfort us through each day. (Luke 24) We believe we should be baptized as an outward showing of our salvation. We believe that with faith in God and through the power of prayer to Him in Christâs name, He will help us in all our times of need, no matter what trials we face. (Hebrew 4)
We believe that Holy matrimony can only be between one man and one woman, and that any other type of marriage is an abomination before God. (I Corinthians 7)
With these beliefs in our hearts we can face a Satan who is alive and working hard in our world today. We know the Bible is true when it tells us âSatan is walking to and fro in the world todayâ, looking to discourage us and other believers in our faith while persuading and leading non-believers to an eternity in Hell. (Job 1)
