“The Little Old Country Church

Dedicated to Providence Baptist Church

By: Lisa Wood

A little country church was founded in the year of 1810,

with open doors & hearts to welcome the holy spirit in.

Where many knees have knelt to pray,

the words that hearts need to say.

Where old time hymns fill the air,

and voices praise God for His loving care.

A preacher quoting scripture & shouting much praise,

many souls revived in this country church’s days.

Sins are washed away in the water under the cross,

thanks to Jesus Christ, our burdens can be tossed.

“Amens” and “hallelujahs” ring out from the pews

of this little old country church that was built on Baptist views.

Many members have come & gone through years since 1810,

but none have been forgotten, we’ll walk with them again.

Within these walls, as we bow our heads and pray,

we’re one family in Christ, in a little old country way.

“Prayer of Thanks”

By: Lisa Wood

Dear God, I’m giving you a prayer of thanks,

‘cause you hear too many prayers of need.

You’ve showed me that when you pray without thanks,

you’re praying with too much greed.

Thanks for letting me live this life,

that’s full of happiness, faith, and love.

Thanks for creating the ground I walk on,

and the beautiful skies above.

Thank you for helping me write these words,

and thanks for letting me be healthy.

Thanks for showing me I don’t need lots of money,

you’re all I need to be wealthy.

Thanks for giving me a chance to help someone,

and for forgiving me for my sins.

Thank you, God, for everything,

in Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Memories”

By: Lisa Wood

Moments that make memories

are cherished through the years.

A time shared together

bringing happiness or tears.

Pictures fade with time,

but memories last forever;

kept safely in your heart

for you to always treasure.

Some memories are forgotten

during the years we leave behind,

But they’re carried with us always

to remember anytime.

Moments that you think about

to bring a smile upon your face

are the moments that make memories

that holds a special time in place.

Recipe for Heaven

By: Lisa Wood

1 cup of blessings,

and 1 cup of love.

2 cups of faith

in God up above.

A tablespoon of honesty,

and a daily dash of prayer.

A pound of devotion,

and a teaspoon of care.

Drain the sin from life,

and mix it all up together.

Let it simmer daily,

This recipe lasts forever.

Serve it all to God

‘cause it’s only prepared for one.

This is a recipe for heaven,

passed down from God’s son.

'When I Come Home'

By: Lisa Wood

I will feel an everlasting joy,
when I walk by your side.

I'll be at peace forever more,
when I wake up in your light.

All the worries will be laid to rest,
that were never worth the pain.

And I will live on eternally,
through my Lord my soul remains.

I give my faith to you,
and, in all this, I believe.

So this brings no good reason
for anyone to grieve.

For there comes a day, as in all our lives,
for all this to come true.

I'll stand at the gate as it opens for me,
when I come home to you.

“Tomorrow”

By: Lisa Wood

If tomorrow when I wake,

I look around but cannot see,

I’ll still go on and live my life,

and be the person that God made me.

If tomorrow when I wake,

I find I cannot hear,

I’ll just thank God for what I’ve got,

I will not shed a tear.

If tomorrow when I wake,

I see how the years have passed,

I won’t say that I’m old,

I’ve just made memories to last.

If tomorrow I don’t wake,

but walk with God into the skies,

Then I’ll know my life was lived for God,

and that I lived it through his eyes.

“My Faith”

By Lisa Wood

Why does God let me hurt?

Maybe he wants to make me stronger.

Why does he allow these troubles?

Maybe so I’ll pray a little longer.

Why was my eyesight so weak?

Maybe so I’d learn to let him lead me.

Why doesn’t he give me wealth?

Maybe so I’ll trust in him to feed me.

It’s true things don’t always go my way,

And I have my share of pain.

But I’ve learned through my faith & love,

That I have so much more to gain.

Because my Lord is teaching me,

I’m not scared when life brings a fall.

For as long as I know he’s with me,

Then I know I truly have it all.
